Djibouti’s army chief arrives in Somalia

Saxil News.com Djibouti’s Armed Forces chief, Major-General Zakaria Sheikh Ibrahim has arrived in central Somali town where troops from Djibouti  who are parts of the African Union forces  (AMISOM) in Somalia are based.

Major-GeneralIbrahim and a delegation from Djibouti have landed in Beledweyne, the provincial capital of Hiran region on Thursday. Upon his arrival, army units from Djibouti saluted the army chief who held talks with regional officials in the town.

Speaking to the reporters at the African Union base, he stated that he arrived in Somalia to inspect his army in Somalia, adding that fresh AU forces from Djibouti would arrive in Beledweyne town in the next few days.

In 2011, Djibouti became the third country to contribute to the African Union forces battling the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabab militants and deployed a contingent in Hiran region, central Somalia.
